Bemrose, Mark Adams, Bob Phinnemore Feature Winners

August 23, 2003 - The wind whipped up a bit last Saturday, putting a bit of a chill in the air. The racing was hard and fast in all three classes, with some great racing battles in the features. A special thanks goes out to our friends from Highland Chev Olds, who sponsored the racing action.

In Limited LAte Model action, Ken Bemrose went from a DNF in his first heat to a solid win in the feature. He was actually lined up to start second, but a first lap incident between polesitter Grant Lloyd and John Mombourquette handed Bemrose the pole on the restart - he did not relinquish the lead. Lambert Yake, who had a vicious meeting with the turn one wall during heat 2, got into the 72 car of Ron Tracey and held on for second in the feature. (A big call has to go out to Tracey for giving up his car, as he was having a great night of his own.) Brendan Adams was also in the hunt, grabbing third. Chris Morrow and Ron Quesnelle finished fourth and fifth.

The Thunder Cars produced a first time feature winner for the season - Mark Adams started fifth and had a great run to the front for the win. Adams has had good runs all year, so it was awesome to see him put it all together for a well deserved feature victory. Frank Davey dogged Adams for the last third of the race, but couldn't get the bite on the inside to pull off a pass - he had to settle for second. Mark Zacchigna, Doug Harvey and Rob Poole completed the top five.

In the Four Cylinders, Bob Phinnemore was able to take advantage of an ailing Jimmy Carter car, sliding past Carter around lap 15 and taking the eventual win. Ted Edwards, "guest piloting" Bob Deasy's CRX, was right behind Phinnemore looking for a way past but had to settle for second. Mario Poulin had a solid run with his new motor for third, and Edward Cole & Mike Carson completed the top five. As mentioned, Jimmy Carter had some tough luck when he developed a problem with the motor while leading - he finished tenth in the feature.
