Only 4 Races to Go!

September 3, 2003 - As cooler weather and shorter evenings set in, so does the cold hard fact that the 2003 racing season is slowly drawing to a close. The racing has been very entertaining and competitive all season, and the championships in two of our three home classes are definitely still up for grabs. If you haven't made it out yet this year, now would be a great chance to check out some of the best racing in Ontario.

Limited Late Model
Chris Morrow, driver of the #22 Morrow Electric Monte Carlo, took the lead on June 7 and since then has only lost it for one short week to Ken Bemrose. Morrow has been a model of consistency - his points lead has never been huge but he has not had the on-track or mechanical problems that some of his competitors have suffered. Ron Quesnelle has been right in Morrow's tracks week after week, and at only 14 points back still has a very legitimate shot at a first elusive title.

Thunder Car
This battle will also likely go down to the wire. Frank Davey had a slow start to the season, but once he got the Capital Bus Sales Camaro hooked up he has steadily worked his way to the top of the standings. Davey swapped the lead a few times with Amanda Connolly, who currently is 25 points behind him. Don't count out Doug Harvey - at only 30 points back of Davey in third place and with recent successes to his credit, he still could make a serious bid for the championship.

4 Cylinders
Wily veteran Jimmy Carter took the points lead on June 21 and hasn't looked back. The driver of the #80 TJ Designs Dodge has been able to steadily gain points on second place week after week, with solid finishes helping keep that consistency. James Rodgers had held that second spot for the better part of the year, but lost it just this week to a hard charging Bob Deasy. Although Deasy has a mathematical chance at the lead, at 205 points back that will be difficult to accomplish. Rob Snow gets honourable mention in third place, as good runs in recent weeks has put him 220 points back of first place.
