Parsons, Liscum, Deasy Feature Winners

September 13, 2003 - An absolutely beautiful night weather-wise gave way to some of the best racing all season. Fox's Buns Master was on hand to sponsor the evening's events, and Wolf Electric had a huge barbeque for it's staff and friends in the far grandstand.

Not one, but two Borden-based HLVW machines made it out to the track, and our generous Sunset crowd was able to raise $739.00 for the Terry Fox Run. Thanks to everyone who dug deep and contributed to this worthwhile cause.

In the Limited Late Models division, Vic Parsons made some great moves early to take the lead and go on to win the 35 lap feature. It was a thrilling race, with lots of action back through the field. Rino Montineri raced the 68 car normally piloted by Andy Ingram, and came home in a solid second spot. Brendan Adams held on for a hard fought third, and Ken Bemrose & Ron Quesnelle completed the top five.

The Thunder Cars produced a back-to-back winner with Tyler Liscum bringing home the feature checkers for the second night in a row. He started outside pole and quickly took the point, with the rest of the fast cars fighting it out behind him. Frank Davey came from mid-pack to get second, with Mark Adams, Ernie Fumerton and Amanda Connolly rounding out the top five. Davey gained some ground on Connolly for the points championship, but it is still far from a lock - next week will be a great battle to determine the 2003 Thunder Car champ.

Bob Deasy grabbed the feature checkers in the Four Cylinder division, with a great side by side battle between himself and Jimmy Carter entertaining the crowd through the final laps. Carter would finish second. Mike Carson once again was a factor, catching up to the battling leaders near the end to make it a three car race - he would finish third. Bob Phinnemore and James Rodgers would finish the top five. Carter has managed to clinch the championship, as Deasy's points deficit is too great to get the lead with only one points night to go. It's hard to believe it is your first one Jimmy - congratulations to you and your crew!
