Passer,
Stoddard, Carter Feature Winners
September
20, 2003 - A truly glorious day weather-wise gave way to an
action packed evening of racing, as the OSCAAR
Super Late Models thundered into Sunset. Gary Passer started
on the pole and won his first Super Late Model feature. He
ran a fantastic race, pulling to a good lead at one point
but eventually was reeled in by Rob Clarke. Clarke challenged
Passer several times but was unable to get the bite off the
corners to make the pass - he would have to settle for second
spot. Dan Lawler, running his rookie season in the OSCAARs,
came in third with Stu Robinson Jr. and Mike Bicknell completing
the top five. Robinson was incredibly quick coming up from
the back of the pack, but in the end ran out of time.
The
Thunder Cars ran a 35 lap Season End Championship feature,
and Norm Stoddard took the checkers from the outside pole.
This was a caution filled event, with 26 cars taking the green
flag. Sauble's Dan Wright took a hard fought second place
finish, with Doug Harvey, Amanda Connolly and Frank Davey
completing the top five. Davey locked up the points championship,
but it went down to the wire as only 21 points separated himself
and Connolly going into the feature. Davey had mechanical
woes during the feature, but managed to fix the problem under
caution and get back out.
Jimmy
Carter put the exclamation mark on his championship winning
season, taking the win in the final points feature of the
year. Jimmy and Bob Deasy had another great battle up front,
but Bob would have to settle for second position. Todd Musker
made the long trip from Ottawa to run with our regular drivers,
and took a well deserved third. Mike Carson and Aaron Martyn
completed the top five.
Congratulations
to Frank Davey and Jimmy Carter on their championship seasons.
