Due to an unfavorable weather system moving into the Barrie area Saturday morning, the annual running of Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity has been pushed back one day and will run Sunday May 20th and Monday, May 21st.

It has been a tough start to the season for local race fans with an exceptionally long winter, and now rain to delay one of the biggest short track events of the year. With light rain expected to start early Saturday and remain most of the day, the only option was to move the event back a day and utilize the rain date already planned.

With the delay comes a change in dates. Saturday’s postponed racing program will move to Sunday May 20th, with the same Saturday time schedule, and Sunday’s program will move to Monday with the Sunday time schedule.

Spring Velocity, which includes two days of action packed racing, features the APC Pro Late Model tour, the ultra-cool OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Fox’s Bakery, the ground-pounding OSCAAR Modifieds, and the newly formed Great Lakes Concrete Series, featuring the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models, Super Stocks and Mini Stocks.

Spectator gates open at 3:30 on Sunday, with racing starting at 5pm. Spectator gates open at 12:30pm on Monday, with racing starting at 2:00pm.
