First Step: Get a car! Our Our ride of choice - a 1993 Ford Tempo.

Solid floor and good running condition for 200 bucks!

Remove interior trim, side glass, carpet and seats.

Remove door trim and glass, but leave sheet metal in place.

Remove trunk carpet panels (everything flammable).

Leave dash in, and re-install driver's seat. Leave heater in place.

Remove lights and plastic trim.

Spoiler can be left in place for aero advantage!

Install firewall (if car is a sedan)...

...and fuel tank (with electric fuel pump modification).

Tie downs for hood (pins used here)...

...and trunk (bungies used on our demo).

Rollover bar and seatback bar.

Belts installed on floor and seatback bar.

Window net - uses a standard seat belt quick release.

Kill switch for electric fuel pump.

Side bar installed.

Optional equipment - headlight covers!

Windshield (and rear window) clips installed.

Tow-barred up and ready to go!

A few hot laps!

And that's all there is to it!

This car has been built to the minimum standards required according to the rulebook. Additional bars can be installed if desired. All cars must pass a technical checklist - as long as the rulebook guidelines are followed, it will pass.

The car was built over the course of 4 or 5 days with less than $400 invested. Other than the rollover bar, no welding is required. Eurotech Automotive has offered to weld up rollover bars at a very low price - e-mail us for the details.

And the car goes surprisingly fast!
