9. Engine:
A) V8 engines
only, with a maximum compression ratio of 9.5 to 1, as calculated
by the track whistler. 10.0 to 1 compression motors will be allowed
but must add 75 lb.
B) Maximum size
is Chrysler and AMC 360, Ford 351 and Chev. 350 cubic inches. Maximum
overbore of .060".
C) Engine Location:
For a 105" to 107" wheelbase car engine must be located
where the front most spark plug must be centered or ahead of the
upper ball joint line with 0 tolerance. Wheelbase over 107"
have 1" of tolerance.
D) Minimum engine
height of 12" from center of crankshaft to ground level.
E) Camshaft-
Hydraulic flat tappet cam only allowed. Offset camshaft key allowed.
Must
Run stock size bore for engine being run, no sleeving. Chryslers
exempt. No belt- drive
Systems permitted. No multiple gear drive systems permitted.
F) Cylinder
Heads:
1) Stock O.E.M.
or World Products cast iron straight plug only. No other aftermarket
cylinder heads allowed.
2) World Products
cylinder head part #4350, #43600-1, #43610-1, casting# I-052 is
allowed.
3) No porting,
polishing or port matching of cylinder head, intake or exhaust manifolds;
and no porting, polishing or relieving under the valves. Stock Only.
4) No special
lightened valves. No titanium valves. No turning of valve stems.
A .020 maximum undercut valve may be used.
5) No GM angle
plug heads.
6) No head with
cast number 292.
7) No Chevy bow tie heads. No GM Vortec heads.
8) The maximum
valve sizes as measured across the valve are as follows:
General Motors : Intake- 1.94 Exhaust -1.50
Ford Cleveland : Intake - 2.04 Exhaust - 1.65
Ford Windsor : Intake - 1.84 Exhaust - 1.64
Chrysler Corp. : Intake - 1.88 Exhaust -1.60
9) Maximum O.D.
of valve spring 1.260".
10) Rockers
must be stock for engines. 1.5 to 1 ratio only.
11) Screw in
stud and guide plates allowed. No stud girdles.
G) No dry sumps.
H) No aluminum
blocks.
I) Engine must
use factory specs for bore and stroke. 6" rods allowed, no
aluminum or fluid dampers, OEM steel elastomer - type balancers
only. Aluminum pulleys allowed.
J) Pistons -
Any flat top.
K) Intake Manifold
- These manifolds must remain as manufactured. No port matching
or flow work permitted. Manifolds must not be painted. All part
#'s are current design Edelbrock performer series intake manifolds.
Older design manifolds with the same part # are not permitted. Approved:
Chevy #2101, Chrysler #2176, Ford Cleveland #2750, Ford Windsor
#2181
Adaptor to be one pc. solid phenolic with no modifications and with
gasket not to exceed a thickness of 1.25".
Or stock cast iron 2-barrel intake. No alterations allowed. No aftermarket
intake manifolds allowed. Maximum size venturi holes in intake adapter
plate 1.755". Maximum size holes in intake manifold 1.720".
L) Exhaust Manifold:
1) Stock cast
iron 2 ½" maximum outlet exhaust manifolds only.
2) Notching
of cross member allowed to accommodate exhaust manifold. Cross-member
must be properly plated so it is not weakened.
3) No polishing
or matching of ports, must bolt to head without spacers and remain
in stock position.
4) No inverting
of manifolds
M) Exhaust:
1) The maximum
O.D. of the exhaust tubing is 2 1/2".
2) Pipes must
be firmly mounted and exit within 17" ahead of right rear tire.
Pipes to be cut flush to the body and above the frame rail.
3) No collector
pipes or collector boxes allowed.
N) Fuel Pump:
Stock mechanical pump only.
O) Fuel: Petroleum
based unleaded fuels only. The gasoline shall not be blended with
alcohols, ethers, or other oxygenates and it shall not be blended
with aniline or its derivatives, nitro compounds or other nitrogen
containing compounds. No lead additives allowed. No NOS system.
P) Carburetion:
One R4412-500 C.F.M. Holley factory stock produced two-barrel carb.
only. The only changes allowed are jets; power valve and removal
of choke parts. Two throttle return springs and stop are mandatory.
Carb. hats allowed. Air cleaners are mandatory. An accelerator toe
bar recommended. Air filters boxes are permitted. No boost venturi
below the throttle plate. No ram air systems. A quick-change jet
kit (part #3425 float bowl) may be used. No Keith Dorton performance
carburetors.
Holley factory stock measurements are as follows:
· Metering block must have the following ID# stamped on it.
Factory stock #5924 or#5925. The #10570 will appear on replacement
or service metering blocks.
· Metering block power valve channel restriction ports (2
holes behind the power valve) maxi. .0635"
· Metering block idle feed restriction ports (2 holes) maximum:
.035"
· Metering block main passage to discharge nozzle (2 holes)
maximum: .141"
· Main body high speed air bleeds (2 holes) maximum: .028"
· Main body idle speed air bleeds (2 holes) maximum .070"
· Butterfly (throttle plate) thickness: .0398" - .0438"
· Hole in butterfly: .090"-.096"
· Butterfly must have stamped on it ID#215
· Throttle shaft diameter .368"-.369"
· Throttle shaft thickness at flat of shaft: .152"
· Venturi bore diameter: 1.373"-1.377"

Q) Distributor and Ignition:
1) Battery operated
ignitions only.
2) Car must be self-starting and have an ignition kill switch on
left and right side of dash. Kill switch must be painted red within
reach of driver on left hand side of car.
3) Stock single-point distributor and stock coil allowed. No dual
points.
4) OEM electronic ignition may be used and require stock coil and
stock type ignition modules. (No Mallory or MSD type systems allowed.)
5) Vacuum advance may be removed.
